Auto/Mate DMS vs Autosoft DMS

Auto/Mate on Auto/Mate DMS: The core dealer management system, positioned as large enough to serve and small enough to care. Autosoft on Autosoft DMS: The core dealer management system covering departments across the dealership.

Auto/Mate and Autosoft both sell cloud dealer management systems, and the choice usually turns on store type and support. Auto/Mate describes a system for franchise dealerships, now presented by Solera, covering inventory, sales, service, F&I, parts and accounting in one interface, from a single rooftop to a multi-store group, with fixed operations tools such as multi-point inspection, dispatch and service pricing guides.

Direct answer

Choosing between Auto/Mate DMS and Autosoft DMS

Autosoft describes a cloud platform for franchise and independent dealers with inventory and market metrics, CRM and sales, service, parts, accounting and analytics, a customer database, F&I tools with credit and compliance, and a long list of outside integrations and a mobile app.

What to check before you choose

Both cover the whole store, so look at the parts that differ. Auto/Mate sits in the Solera family alongside DealerSocket, whose own DMS, IDMS, is also sold, and a store should ask which product it would get. Autosoft partners with Darwin for its F&I menu and sells AutoDealer Plus through ASN Software, so ask which modules are Autosoft's own and which come from a partner.

The questions that matter are practical. How does the accounting handle floor plan and month-end?

How are state forms kept current? How are manufacturer reports produced?

How does support work after hours and on a Saturday? What does training cost, and who delivers it?

A DMS is only as good as the person who answers the phone when it breaks.

Ask both about data conversion. Moving history, open deals and open repair orders is the hardest part of a change.

Ask who does the extraction, how long it takes, how it is checked and what happens on the first day. Ask for the plan in writing.

Ask each for a reference at a store of your brand that converted in the last year, and call it. Ask what took longer than promised.

Ask what they would do differently. Check exit terms too: what data you can take, in what format, and what it costs to leave.

Keep the notes for the contract review.

Add one more test to the reference calls: ask each reference how the system behaved at its last month-end close and its last manufacturer audit. A DMS is stressed at those two moments, and a store that cannot describe them calmly may be hiding a problem. Ask also how many staff members left or changed roles during the conversion, since people matter as much as software.
