Car Dealer Vendors standard

Corrections policy

Vendors, dealers and researchers can submit precise factual corrections with supporting evidence. A correction right is not a right to approve conclusions.

What to include

Exact page URL, disputed field, proposed replacement, product/version/market, source and your relationship to the subject.

Review standard

Material factual errors are triaged first. We check controlling evidence, conflicts and dependent pages before publishing a correction.

Visible record

Material changes receive a review-date update. Corrections never silently convert sponsored claims into editorial facts.

What we will not publish

Anonymous accusations, unsupported quality claims, confidential dealer information or claims that cannot be scoped to a product and configuration.

Where to send it

Email team@carbidedigital.io with the page URL in the subject line. Corrections that name a primary source are triaged first.

Who can submit one

Anyone. There is no verification gate on submitting a correction, because a gate would mostly exclude the dealers who notice errors first. Your relationship to the subject changes how a claim is weighted, not whether it is read, which is why we ask you to state it rather than infer it.

What happens after you send it

A submission is checked against a primary source before anything changes. Where the correction is confirmed, the record is updated, its review date moves, and — if the change is material — it is recorded in the change log with the date. Where it is not confirmed, the record stands and the reason is the same one stated here: no source established it.

Corrections that reach more than one page

Records depend on each other. A corrected corporate parent changes the company page, its product records, the comparison and alternatives pages either side of it, the machine-readable export and the answer text that names the parent. A correction is not finished until the dependent records move with it, and that is the reason a fix can take longer than the fact appears to warrant.

What a correction cannot do

It cannot remove an accurate limitation, change an evidence status without evidence, delete a record because its subject would prefer not to be listed, or convert a disclosed commercial relationship into an editorial conclusion. A correction right is a right to have facts checked. It is deliberately not a right of approval, because a directory whose subjects can approve their own entries is an advertising channel with a research vocabulary.

If you think a record should not exist at all

Say so, and say why. A company that has closed, a brand that has been absorbed, or a product that has been withdrawn is a factual matter and the record should reflect it — usually by recording the event rather than by deleting the history. A request to remove an accurate, sourced record because it is unflattering is not a correction, and it will be declined with this paragraph as the reason.
