Cox Automotive Dealertrack DMS
Cox Automotive Dealertrack DMS: Cox Automotive describes Dealertrack as its technology brand for dealers, whose products include a dealer management system, fixed operations, CRM, sales and F&I, and registration and titling. The DMS is presented as a cloud-based system that lets teams reach real-time data and run operations from any device.
Cox Automotive Dealertrack DMS: Dealertrack DMS
The company says the DMS manages sales, service, parts and accounting alongside integrated credit, compliance and digital contracting. Its accounting tools are described as giving real-time visibility into the financial position of the dealership and easing month-end close and reconciliation.
On the fixed operations side, Dealertrack lists parts ordering, inventory management, service scheduling, repair orders and warranty claims, with parts integration to manufacturer networks for automated ordering and availability checking. For groups, it describes multi-rooftop support with centralized reporting, cross-store inventory visibility and consolidated accounting.
Dealertrack says the DMS is built on an open platform that welcomes third-party integrations. Its integrations page lists the manufacturers, lenders and vendors it connects with.
Dealertrack publishes pages on DMS options and on the platform itself. Cox Automotive's back office solutions page places the DMS in the wider Cox family.
MAQTOOB and DealerInt carry outside descriptions and reviews, including limitations, which are the publishers' views.
A dealer thinking of moving to this DMS would treat it as a whole-store decision. The questions cover manufacturer certifications for the store's franchises, data migration from the current system, accounting and payroll features, hosting and uptime, training and go-live support, contract length and the way data can be exported later.
Because Dealertrack also sells registration and titling, credit and contracting products, a store should ask which of those come with the DMS and which are separate. Test it on real data.
Ask about exit terms.
Cox Automotive agreed to buy Dealertrack for 4 billion dollars, or 63.25 dollars a share. The purchase closed on October 1, 2015.
Dealertrack was then based in Lake Success, New York.
It sold a DMS, fixed operations tools, F&I, digital marketing, CRM, and registration and titling. In January 2025 Vitu closed on the registration and titling businesses from Cox.
A dealer would ask which of those pieces remain with Cox.
Cox Automotive presents Dealertrack DMS as the back-office core of its dealer product line. Its descriptions place the DMS beside vAuto for inventory pricing, VinSolutions for CRM, Autotrader for listings, Kelley Blue Book for valuations and Xtime for service scheduling, so the depth of connection is greatest for stores using several Cox products.
Support comes from Cox itself. A multi-store group should map which of those products it already runs, check what the integration costs between them and ask whether data can leave the system in a clean export if the group later changes provider.
