UVEye Atlas

UVEye Atlas: UVeye describes Atlas as an automatic vehicle inspection system that scans a vehicle's exterior in 360 degrees as it drives through. The company says it examines sheet metal and other exterior components for paint chips, dents and other issues, using cameras and artificial intelligence to produce a report without a manual walk-around.

UVEye Atlas: Atlas

UVeye's product page distinguishes Atlas from Atlas Lite. The full Atlas is described as suited to high-volume service facilities, fleet operations and assembly lines.

Atlas Lite is described as designed for dealership use. Auto Dealer Today reported on UVeye's new inspection systems shown at NADA 2022.

For dealerships, UVeye says Atlas Lite powers fast inspections in dealership lanes, capturing many images in seconds to identify bumper damage, paint chips, panel dents, cracked lights, chipped glass and rust. The system lets a user view each camera angle of the vehicle as it passed through, which UVeye links to detailed listings and appraisals.

UVeye describes three uses for a dealership: a service inspection report that helps show a customer what was found, an appraisal and reconditioning report for trade-ins and recon, and photo-quality images ready for the store's virtual showroom pages. The systems create digital vehicle condition reports with photos that can be shared with customers.

UVeye also publishes a How It Works page, a dealerships page and an about page. A Modern Auto dealership's site describes the technology as part of its service experience, and Forbes reported on the company's funding.

Those are third-party or trade descriptions, which help place the product in a real service lane.

The unit is physical equipment, so installation matters: lane length, lighting, floor conditions, power, network connection and how vehicles are driven through the scanner. A fixed ops director would ask how reports are attached to the repair order, how photos are stored and shared, how the AI's findings are reviewed by a person before they are presented to a customer, and how service and support are handled.

A separate consideration is how the store describes an automated inspection to a customer, since the findings are recommendations that the customer approves or declines. The category guide for vehicle inspection technology lists a neutral checklist.

Verify each integration first.
