ADS-TEC Energy ChargeBox vs InCharge Energy InControl
ADS-TEC Energy on ADS-TEC Energy ChargeBox: Battery-buffered ultra-fast EV charging for power-limited grids. InCharge Energy on InCharge Energy InControl: Software that connects charging hardware and service teams, with direct OCPP connections and proxy integrations.
ADS-TEC Energy ChargeBox and InCharge Energy InControl sit on different layers of a charging site. ChargeBox is hardware.
ADS-TEC describes a battery-buffered fast charging system that serves power-limited grids, with dealerships named among its applications. InControl is software.
InCharge describes it as charger maintenance and management software used by manufacturers, dealerships and dealer groups, to run charging across one location or many and across different charger brands.
Choosing between ADS-TEC Energy ChargeBox and InCharge Energy InControl
One makes the power. The other watches and manages whatever is plugged in.
What to check before you choose
A dealer rarely has to choose between them. The usual question is which charger to buy and what software will keep it running.
InControl lists a Depot View that lets users build a virtual parking lot, tie chargers to stalls and watch the status of each charger and the readiness of each vehicle in real time. That fits a dealer with a service department that charges customer and loaner vehicles.
Start by listing the chargers on the site now or planned. Ask InCharge whether InControl reads each brand and model, including ChargeBox, and what the connection requires. Ask ADS-TEC what monitoring comes with ChargeBox and what protocol it offers to outside software.
Check what happens in a fault. A charger that goes down should trigger an alert, a ticket and a technician visit. Find out who receives the alert, how fast a response is promised and how repairs are billed.
Check the reporting. Dealerships often need usage by site, by vehicle and by time of day, and some utilities require reports to pay incentives. Request a sample report from InControl and confirm the data fits your utility's format.
Check the contract. Software is often sold by the charger per month, and hardware is a one-time purchase with a service plan. Total both over five years, including software seats, warranty extensions and replacement parts.
Finally, plan for growth. A single charger today may become eight in two years. Ask each vendor how pricing and support change as the site grows.
Security and access belong on the checklist. Charging software connects to your network and may hold driver and payment data.
Request each vendor's data handling terms, ask who can log in to the charger and find out how remote updates are delivered and logged. Keep a copy of the answers with the equipment contract, and name the person at the store who approves access.
Plan the first ninety days too. Agree who installs, who commissions and who trains your staff, and set a date for the first usage report.
