What to check before you choose

AutoSync's company page counts more than 3,750 subscribers and 10,000 users, and its suite spans CRM, digital retailing, websites, inventory, advertising and service. ProMax says it was founded in 1994, was acquired by SNH Capital Partners in 2018, has offices in Bettendorf, Iowa and Mission, Kansas, and sells ProMax Complete, which combines CRM, desking, credit, compliance, data mining, ID verification and websites, replacing five to fourteen systems according to the company. Its Appraisal Express tool offers an instant trade range and optional pre-approval without a Social Security number.

The two start from different places. AutoSync grew out of a Canadian marketplace and software group.

ProMax grew out of credit-driven retailing and special finance. Ask each how credit pulls and adverse action notices are handled, which markets are supported and what integrations exist with your DMS.

Compare the answers in writing.

A final difference is the market. AutoSync sells chiefly in Canada, where its group includes the AutoTrader.ca marketplace, so a Canadian dealer may value that link.

ProMax is a United States company with a three-decade history in credit-driven retailing and compliance, which matters to stores with a large special finance business. Ask each about references in your own country and about the support hours that apply to your time zone.

Ask one more thing of each: the exit. AutoSync sells several products under one name, so ask whether a store can leave the CRM without leaving the website or inventory tool, and what data comes with it.

ProMax says its platform replaces five to fourteen systems, so ask what that means for a store that wants to keep one of them. Get the answers in the contract.
