AI BDC definition

What is an AI BDC for dealerships?

An AI BDC uses automated text, email, chat or voice interactions to handle defined sales or service communication tasks. It may answer questions, qualify intent, schedule appointments or continue follow-up, but its authority and escalation rules must be explicit.

01

Define the permitted job

Specify channels, hours, languages, customer types, actions, data sources and situations that require a human. Do not evaluate a broad AI label without a workflow boundary.

02

Control accuracy and consent

Test inventory, pricing, incentives, appointment availability, opt-outs, disclosures, sensitive questions and uncertain answers. Review transcripts and CRM records.

03

Measure useful outcomes

Track qualified conversations, appointments, show or repair-order outcomes, escalation quality, duplicate contact and customer complaints—not message volume alone.
