ADESA Clear

ADESA describes ADESA Clear as a timed digital auction for wholesale buyers. The company's own materials say every starting bid equals the reserve price.

So the opening number is the floor and a vehicle that draws a bid sells. That is a different mechanism from a lane sale, where a reserve may or may not be met.

It is the first thing a store should understand about how the product is run.

According to a Business Wire release dated April 2025 and to trade coverage in Auto Remarketing, ADESA Clear blends ADESA's wholesale auction experience with Carvana's technology and digital merchandising work. Carvana is the parent group's retail brand, and coverage described the arrangement as an online wholesale platform with a retail feel.

The pages describe optimized condition reports, streamlined search and one-click bidding as the buyer-facing features.

Bidding is described as available online every day, at any hour. So a buyer does not wait for a scheduled live sale.

ADESA presents this as timed sales that are built for efficiency and transparency. A dealer who plans workflow around end times would ask for the sale schedule in their region.

ADESA also describes a companion valuation tool called CarValue. The company says it is a predictive valuation tool powered by machine learning over ADESA transaction data, giving VIN-specific wholesale and retail value predictions, a retail-bid spread and an integrated profit calculator.

On footprint, the company says vehicles sold through ADESA Clear come from locations across both the ADESA and Carvana networks and reach ADESA's wholesale customers across the country. The release describes a phased rollout: select markets first in late 2023, then regional expansion through 2024 and into 2025.

A dealer in a region added late should confirm current availability instead of relying on the national description.

ADESA's site separates its physical auctions, its digital offerings and dealer services. ADESA Clear sits in the digital group beside the live lane experience, so a store can hold an account for both.

Questions to raise before relying on the platform include how arbitration and post-sale inspection claims are handled, how transport is booked, what fees apply at sale and how title and payment are settled.

The company profile lists ADESA's other lines. The category buying guide sets out a neutral scorecard that a store can apply to ADESA Clear and to any other wholesale channel it is considering.

ADESA entered vehicle remarketing in 1989. KAR bought it in 2007, sold the US physical auctions to Carvana in 2022, and retained ADESA in Canada, the UK and Europe.

The company rebranded from KAR Global to OPENLANE in 2023.

Automotive News covered Carvana's finalization of the ADESA US deal. A dealer would ask which ADESA services are still run by OPENLANE and which now belong to Carvana.
