Comcast Business VoiceEdge

Comcast Business VoiceEdge: Comcast Business describes VoiceEdge as a cloud-hosted private branch exchange, a phone system that runs from the provider's network instead of a box in the store. The company says it delivers the features of a traditional on-site PBX without the hardware and physical space that an on-premises system requires.

Comcast Business VoiceEdge: Business voice

The features listed on Comcast Business pages include desktop and mobile calling apps, readable voicemail, audio conference hosting, screen sharing, team messaging through Webex, an auto-attendant and virtual receptionist, interactive voice response menus. Several hunt group routing patterns that decide which extension rings when a call comes in.

Call queues are among the described tools. Comcast says they operate across a whole business-wide system or at a specific site.

For a dealership, a queue is what holds incoming calls to the sales or service department when everyone is busy. The routing pattern decides which advisor is tried first.

Mobility is part of the product. Comcast says employees can make and receive calls, use voicemail and join conference calls from any device through the mobile and desktop apps.

That matters for a store where salespeople move around the lot and technicians are not at desks.

The company says an online administration portal lets a store administrator add users, change extensions and adjust settings without calling support. Independent review sites, such as G2, WhichVoIP and business.com, carry reviews and price listings that Comcast does not control.

Comcast also markets a voice mobility offering and other phone services on its main business phone page. So VoiceEdge is one of several products.

It is a general business phone system, not a dealership-specific product. So integrations with dealer CRMs, call tracking and BDC tools are questions for the store to raise.

A general manager or office manager comparing options would ask whether calls can be recorded for training, how call data reaches the store's call tracking or marketing attribution tool, how the system handles a service department that needs to route by department and hours, what happens to calls during an internet outage, and how numbers are ported from the current carrier. Confirm who owns the data.

Try it with your data.

Comcast Business describes VoiceEdge as a cloud-hosted PBX. Features include readable voicemail, audio conference hosting, screen sharing and call forwarding controls.

It offers key system emulation, with call park groups and parking spots.

VoiceEdge Select is aimed at mid-sized retailers and adds an auto attendant and professional installation. The pages found do not mention dealerships, so a dealer would ask how it integrates with call tracking and the CRM.
