Traka: product details
Traka makes electronic key cabinets and lockers. Staff identify themselves with a PIN, card or fingerprint, the cabinet records which key was taken, when and by whom, and keys can be returned to any cabinet or site.
For automotive, its MX range serves dealerships, TrakaMEC is the entry model and Traka21 is a stand-alone cabinet for 21 keys. Cabinet size drives the price.
The value for a dealer is less time spent finding keys and an audit trail for test drives and service vehicles. Ask about cabinet sizing for your stock, how the system connects to the DMS or CRM, what happens during a power or network outage and what the annual support cost covers.
The product page for the current Touch Pro cabinets gives the physical details. The door is 6 mm scratch-resistant polycarbonate and the hinges are tested to over one million cycles.
The cabinet is taller and deeper than the earlier Touch range, and its modular design is meant to be quick to assemble, install and configure. It can run as a single cabinet or as a networked system, and Traka says access at any time cuts the cost of replacing, auditing and managing keys.
These are manufacturer specifications, so a dealer should confirm which cabinet model a quote covers.
A dealer pricing key cabinets should ask how many keys one cabinet holds, how a manager releases a key if the network is down and what the annual support cost covers. Ask also whether the cabinet writes to the DMS or CRM or only keeps its own log, since a log nobody reads protects nothing.
