Dealertrack RegUSA
Dealertrack RegUSA: Dealertrack describes RegUSA as its registration and titling solution for vehicles sold to out-of-state customers. According to Dealertrack's releases carried by Digital Dealer, PR Newswire and Auto Dealer Today, it is meant to streamline unfamiliar state regulations and requirements so a dealer can complete the sale without delay.
Dealertrack RegUSA: Registration & Titling, Accelerated Title and RegUSA
The product is built around a customer-specific checklist. Once the buyer's information is entered, Dealertrack says RegUSA electronically provides an action-oriented task list for that deal, telling the dealer which documents are needed, when original documents and wet signatures are required, and whether a document must be notarized.
A second feature is real-time status. Dealertrack says the dealer can see where each deal stands and act on outstanding items without going back and forth with the RegUSA office after submission.
The stated purpose is to prevent deal delays by putting the open items in front of the store instead of in an email thread.
Data entry is reduced by automated population. Dealertrack says information is repopulated throughout the registration and title process.
So the same details are not keyed twice, which it links to accuracy and efficiency.
The service includes people as well as software. RegUSA offers professional deal audit and scan services, in which staff review the documentation.
The dealer can scan and upload missing documents if action is needed to finalize the deal. Dealertrack presents this as helping ensure each deal is complete to meet state requirements.
Coverage is described in two parts. In-state processing is offered in a list of states published by Dealertrack.
The out-of-state service is available nationwide. A dealership in a state outside the in-state list would use RegUSA for the out-of-state transactions only.
Dealertrack also markets the wider registration and titling suite and a nationwide solution with state-specific compliance safeguards, announced in earlier releases. Questions for a business office: which states are covered for the store's typical buyers, how the service is billed per transaction, how quickly title work is turned around, how the checklist is kept current when a state changes a form, and how the service connects with the store's DMS and deal jacket.
The category guide for registration and titling lists the same questions in scorecard form. Check what costs extra.
Dealertrack RegUSA handled cross-border registration and titling for all 50 states. It included lien work.
Vitu announced in November 2024 that it would buy the Dealertrack registration and titling businesses from Cox Automotive.
The deal covered RTS, RegUSA, Accelerated Title and Collateral Management Services, and closed in January 2025. A dealer would ask who now supports the product and whether the login changed.
