MAX Digital FirstLook

MAX Digital FirstLook: MAX Digital, now ACV MAX, describes FirstLook as its inventory management system platform. Dealers use products of this type to run appraisals and examine inventory in order to price vehicles for sale, whether at wholesale or retail.

MAX Digital FirstLook: FirstLook and Appraisal

FirstLook is one of the MAX Digital products that ACV took on when it acquired the company, an event reported by Auto Remarketing and by ACV in a release.

The company says its cloud-based tools use predictive analytics informed by machine learning to help price wholesale and retail inventory. ACV MAX describes inventory intelligence that uses AI to determine a vehicle's specific value, factoring in its condition, rooftop and timing, with VIN-level recommendations.

FirstLook is described as including a mobile appraisal app built on a new technology platform, a library of original window stickers across many manufacturer brands, and recall identification and remedy features that show whether a vehicle has open recalls using several data sources. A blog post titled as the next generation of inventory management announced the updated platform.

MAX Digital's merchandising products are described as helping dealers promote, position and sell retail vehicles. An earlier post describes a redesigned digital showroom with a recall alert feature and an improved mobile app.

The tools integrate with dealer management systems, which the company says makes set-up straightforward.

The ACV MAX site now presents the products under the ACV MAX brand, with pages on inventory sourcing and appraisal. A separate MAX inventory management site for logged-in users.

VendorMotive lists MAXDigital among inventory management vendors under the older name.

Because the company was acquired by an online wholesale marketplace operator, a dealer evaluating FirstLook would ask how the inventory tools relate to the marketplace, what data is shared and whether a store can use the tools without using the auction. Those are fair questions for any tool sold by a marketplace owner.

A used car manager would also ask how appraisals are shared between the desk and the lot, how pricing recommendations reflect the store's own rules, how recall data is refreshed and how the product compares with other inventory tools on the shortlist. The category guide for inventory management lists the shared checklist.

FirstLook is MAX Digital's appraisal and pricing tool, now part of ACV. A scanner reads vehicle information quickly, and the app can show guidebook values from KBB, J.D.

Power, Black Book and Galves along with CARFAX or AutoCheck reports. MAX Digital says appraisals draw on ten pricing proof points and on real wholesale results from ACV auctions, and the tool compares local supply, days on lot and comparable pricing to suggest whether a trade should be retailed or wholesaled.

A used-car manager should test the recommendation against recent sold units and check which guidebooks the subscription includes.
