DealerBuilt iService

DealerBuilt iService: DealerBuilt describes iService as the service lane solution that it added to its portfolio through the acquisition of iService Auto, announced in a PR Newswire release. The company presents it as an integrated part of its Lightyear DMS offering.

DealerBuilt iService: iService

A January 2024 release introduced it as a future-facing set of service lane technology.

According to DealerBuilt, iService spans online scheduling, check-in, video multi-point inspection, interactive quoting, a customer portal. Tools for the BDC and reconditioning.

Its help center adds an estimation and service pricing guide. So an advisor can price a repair from within the same screens used to check the customer in.

Video inspection is the feature the company describes most. Technicians record high-definition video that shows the repair needed, and the video goes straight to the customer's mobile device.

DealerBuilt frames this as connecting customers directly to technicians and helping approvals move faster. A separate DealerBuilt post about the MPI tool covers the inspection workflow in more detail.

For customer communication, the company describes two-way texting and automatic status updates through the service stages, along with a customer portal. A February 2025 DealerBuilt post lays out the customer journey from scheduling through payment.

The company's description extends the same platform to payments, financing and customer satisfaction tracking.

Because it is integrated with Lightyear, DealerBuilt says the system minimizes manual entry between the service tool and the DMS. The stated flow is inspection, parts pricing, approval and communication in one path.

So the work order moves from the lane to the lift and back to the customer without re-keying. A dealership on another DMS would want to ask whether iService can be used at all outside that pairing.

DealerBuilt maintains a help center with articles introducing iService, which is a useful place for a service manager to read how check-in, inspection and quoting are configured before signing. It is more detailed than the marketing pages.

This is a fixed-operations record, and the category guide for service lane software gives the standard evaluation checklist. Involve the daily users.

DealerBuilt launched in 2008 as Lightyear Dealer Technologies. Its brands include Lightyear, Oplogic, iService and Vistadash.

It added Vistadash in 2022 and iService for the service lane in 2023.

In January 2026 it launched Lightyear Enterprise Retail Cloud at NADA. A group would ask how iService works on a different DMS.
