Edmunds Dealer Leads

Edmunds Dealer Leads: Edmunds runs a dealer program in which participating dealers receive shopper leads from Edmunds.com. One of its earlier names was Edmunds Direct, described by the company as giving participating dealers direct, exclusive and immediate exposure to car shoppers who are researching and comparing vehicles on the site.

The current umbrella is Premier, which Edmunds announced through a PR Newswire release as a revamped dealer program. The company says it is designed to drive ready-to-buy shoppers to a dealer's website or storefront using targeted advertising and Edmunds audience data, connecting shoppers with the dealer's inventory at each stage of the online buying journey.

The features listed for participating dealers are direct website traffic through targeted social advertising, promoted display ads on Edmunds, dedicated emails. A single platform for web chat, text and Facebook Messenger conversations with shoppers.

Mega Dealer News also covered the announcement as a new marketing program aimed at improving the connection between dealers and shoppers.

Edmunds has also described a program called the Price Promise, which it introduced in a press release as an exclusive service to help dealers close sales. In that program the dealer commits to a price shown to shoppers.

Edmunds presents the offer to the shopper on its site. The terms are set in the dealer agreement, so a dealership should read the Price Promise conditions before joining.

A dealer newsletter published by Edmunds describes an earlier program that directly connects dealers with car buyers, which shows that lead delivery has been part of the offering for a long time. The new-car solutions page on the industry site describes the current suite of products alongside the leads.

Because leads arrive from a third party, the operational questions are about response. A store would look at how leads are delivered to the CRM, which contact fields come with them, whether the lead is exclusive to one dealer or shared, how disputes over lead validity are handled, and how quickly the BDC is expected to answer.

Edmunds publishes a dealer support line and an email address for account questions.

The category guide for lead sources describes the shared checklist for comparing them. Test it on real data.

Edmunds says it is paid by automakers, dealers and other providers for lead referrals. It formed web commerce agreements with Autobytel and Geico by 1996.

In June 2019 it launched Premier, a revamped dealer program.

Edmunds describes Premier as a way to send ready-to-buy shoppers to a dealer's website or store. A dealer would ask how a lead is counted and how disputes are settled.
