Mitchell 1 TruckSeries

Mitchell 1 TruckSeries: Mitchell 1 describes TruckSeries as a repair information product for medium- and heavy-duty trucks. Its own pages say a single application covers labor estimating, diagnostic trouble code procedures and repair information for all makes, for vehicle classes 4 through 8.

Mitchell 1 TruckSeries: TruckSeries

It is aimed at commercial truck service operations, including the heavy-truck departments of dealerships.

The service content named on Mitchell 1's pages includes color wiring diagrams, full-color photographs and labor time estimates. Trade coverage in Fleet Equipment described the product as a single log-in, all-makes resource with scalable wiring diagrams and digital pictures, with a path from a diagnostic trouble code into diagnostic procedures.

Vehicle Service Pros reported additional features in a Mitchell 1 release, including access to ABS and transmission trouble code diagnostic and repair information in one location. A later addition described in Commercial Carrier Journal was a unit number search, which Mitchell 1 said is meant to simplify how technicians reach data for a specific truck in a fleet.

In partnership with the American Trucking Associations' Technology and Maintenance Council, Mitchell 1 has merged the council's Recommended Practices into TruckSeries. The company describes these as maintenance and technology guidance for fleets and manufacturers.

The merge places them beside the repair data instead of in a separate binder or website.

Mitchell 1 also lists a diagnostics component on its TruckSeries pages. It has announced enhancements to a related diagnostic product called RepairConnect for medium and heavy truck repair.

Those are separate pages from the repair information module. So a shop should ask which parts are included in the subscription it is quoted.

The product is described as integrated with Manager SE Truck Edition, Mitchell 1's truck shop management software. The company presents the pair as covering each step from estimate to invoice.

A dealership using a different DMS or shop system would want to ask what the integration involves and whether TruckSeries can run without it.

Mitchell 1 says the data is delivered over the web. Its release notes describe annual data updates for the model-year coverage.

Questions to raise include how far back the vehicle coverage goes, how often content is refreshed, whether there is an offline option in the shop, and how user seats are counted. The category guide for service and repair information lays out a neutral checklist.

Ask what is included.

Mitchell 1 released TruckLabor in 2013 as the first full labor time estimating product for medium and heavy trucks. In 2015 it folded its Class 4 to 8 truck tools into one module-based application called TruckSeries.

A fleet shop would ask which makes and model years are covered and how often labor times are revised.
