So the buyer can track a vehicle and its keys from a phone.
The company says the trackers are battery powered, need no technician and are not hard-wired. The company says it uses Bluetooth instead of GPS for the keys because Bluetooth location works indoors where keys are often lost, and that tapping Find in the app makes the tag sound so the customer can hear where the keys are.
Mobile Dealer Data's main business is dealership key and vehicle tracking. Its site describes real-time location tracking for keys and vehicles on the lot, and says the company began by building a tool inside a Toyota dealership.
An Auto Success article describes ServiceVision, another product that the company introduced for service billable hours.
The company's about page describes it as built by automotive operators, and its proof page presents examples. Crunchbase and LinkedIn carry company profiles.
The company's blog has posts about F&I products that add recurring revenue at a dealership.
Because VehicleVault is sold as a product to the vehicle buyer, a finance manager would treat it as any F&I product: how it is presented and priced, what the customer receives, how the dealer's branding appears, how the app handles the customer's data and privacy, and how the customer contacts support. State rules on how aftermarket products are disclosed and priced apply.
A general manager would ask how the trackers are provisioned and logged, how the app is branded and maintained, how the store handles customers who change phones or sell the car and how the product is reported to the store. The category guide for F&I products lists a neutral checklist for use with this and other add-on products.
