LPR Media: product details

LPR Media's home page calls its Your Bird Dog program a way to cover the cost of a dealership's ad campaign and get paid only when it works, and its about page says there are no setup or startup fees, that conquest-only campaigns are available and that it works on straight commission, capped at what a similar campaign would cost if the dealer paid in full upfront. It says it was awarded Best Booth at NADA's 2023 convention.

The terms are the company's own.

Its about page says founder Ken Schwartz worked with data as an attorney from 1996, became an executive and general counsel at Seisint, the Accurint data company sold to LexisNexis in 2004, and later ran CityTwist, which built a marketplace for acquiring automotive customers through email advertising. It adds that the company's general counsel reviews every advertisement before a proof goes to a dealer to check that it is compelling and complies with federal and state law.

The channels named on the site include radio, social and mobile, email and connected TV. A dealer should ask how a sale is attributed to the campaign, what data or lists are used for targeting, how consent and opt-outs are handled, whether the commission is paid on sold vehicles or on appointments and what happens to the cap if a campaign runs longer.

Because its model pays on performance, the contract should state clearly when a sale counts, how long after a mailing or email it is credited, how a sale from a repeat customer is treated and what the dealer can audit, since the incentive to credit sales falls on the vendor. Ask about renewals.
